Esplanade Sun Life Financial
A daring architectural design by architect Roger Taillibert, the Olympic Park complex was built to accommodate the 1976 Summer Games.
More than one hundred million people have come to visit the facilities since their inauguration, either to admire the landscape at the top of the highest leaning tower in the world, to attend a sports or commercial event presented in the Stadium or to work out in the Sports Centre.
The Olympic Park grounds, including the facilities and on-site partners of the Park (the Biodôme and the Planetarium, which belong to the "Espace pour la vie"; Saputo stadium, the Montreal Alouettes and Impact; the StarCité cinema; the Pierre-Charbonneau Centre; the Maurice-Richard Arena; the National Multisport Centre; the PhysiOstéoclinic; the Canadian Olympic Committee and the Regroupement loisir Québec) is visited by more than 3 million people each year, making it Quebec's largest urban and recreational-touristic park, harmonious with its surrounding community and open to the world.
More than ever, the Olympic Park aspires to become a unique focal point where creation, discovery, entertainment and physical-activity come together.
It is in this spirit that the directors of the Olympic Park have decided, as stated in the organization's 2012-2014 action plan, to invite external programming on the Esplanade Sun Life Financial.
General information on the programming
To develop annual programming on its Esplanade Sun Life Financial, the Olympic Park wants to welcome projects suggested by external organizations who want to benefit from its facilities, event-driven expertise and financial support.
This external programming will be chosen according to the three quite distinct branches - sporting and entertainment activities, culture and biodiversity. It will aim to:
- support economic development of Montreal and Quebec by making the Olympic Park a top tourist destination, on both a national and international level;
- aim at better integration of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve residents in the Olympic Park activities;
- display the distinct and original character of the Olympic Park within the event-driven Montreal and Quebec landscape;
- use the outside areas of the Olympic Park twelve months per year.
Submit a project
Any organizations wanting to submit an activity project for the Olympic Park Esplanade Sun Life Financial must fill the proper form and hand it in at least 120 days before the day of the event, duly signed and accompanied by all the relevant documents about the project.
